Michael Fields, Ph.D.
Dean of the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Fields’ extensive academic and managerial background serves as a foundation in providing vision and leadership to further the Huizenga School’s development of innovative educational programs, curriculum, and a diverse faculty and student body.
Prior to being appointed dean of the Huizenga School, Dr. Fields served as dean of the College of Business Administration at Central Michigan University. Additionally, he previously was a member of the faculty at Missouri State University’s College of Business Administration, including serving as associate dean and director of the MBA program. He was also on the faculty at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte.
In addition to the accolades of his academic career, Dr. Fields has years of professional experience in the areas of management and operations in the supermarket, food and retail industries. It is this background that fostered Dr. Fields’ belief that business schools should be tied closely to industry, particularly in regard to academic literature contributions made by faculty members.
“For a school of business to be successful, it must do three things exceedingly well: it must recruit excellent students, do a wonderful job educating them, and help the students find a position that affords them the opportunity for professional growth and development. At the Huizenga School, we take this to heart. We believe the key is establishing high-quality, differentiated programs that add direct value to industry members. The Huizenga School has a long and rich history of providing these types of programs. Because our graduates are prepared to add immediate value, leading companies seek them out. Because our graduates are given great professional development opportunities, we tend to attract excellent students. It’s an environment that is a win/win for everyone. It also explains why we are one of the largest private colleges in the nation.
Another issue that is important to us is access. We welcome students to our beautiful Carl DeSantis Building, but we realize it is not convenient for everyone to come to our Fort Lauderdale campus. That is why many of our programs are available at satellite campuses and most are available in an online environment. Great programs which are accessible to you – that’s a winning combination. I invite you to take a close look at a program that interests you. I am confident you will be impressed with what you find.”

Michael Fields, Ph.D, has been named dean of the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). The announcement was made on August 6 by NSU President Ray Ferrero, Jr.
