Joan Painter, CFE is founder and managing member of Franchise Ventures, LLC, which specializes in providing systems and solutions for evolving Franchisors. Ms. Painter works with existing and start-up businesses that have a proven concept, fine tuning their model while preparing them for entry into the franchise industry. In her part time role as Director of Franchising for Fresh City Franchising, Needham, MA, Ms. Painter developed Fresh City’s initial franchise systems including the development, sales, marketing, and finance components. In establishing the Fresh City system, Ms. Painter has contributed significantly to the development of the UFOC, Franchise Agreements and Development Agreements in addition to managing sales, contracts, trademarks, and domains.

With over 20 years of franchise experience, Joan’s talents include Franchise Administration, Sales Compliance, Franchise Relations, Distribution, Operations and Logistics. Areas of specialty include assessing franchise locations for serving people with disabilities and working with Not for Profit organizations. Joan’s previous tenure with Ben & Jerry’s includes franchise unit development, non-traditional unit development as well as ADA compliance issues.

Ms. Painter is a member of the IFA and has served in the Legal Task Force, Ambassador Program, and Women in Franchising, speaker at the ABA Forum on Franchising and newly elected member of the ICFE Educational Board. She is also a participating member of the ABA Forum on Franchising, as a speaker, member of the Women’s Caucus, and is the current Chair of the Franchise Administrators Network providing on-going support, networking opportunities, and mentoring to over 100 franchise administrators and paralegals in the franchise industry. Joan earned her CFE in 2000, and renewed her certification in 2007.
