PHR | SPHR Certification

This program is designed to help HR professionals prepare for the Human Resource Certification Institute's (HRCI's) examination for the Professional or Senior Professional in Human Resources (PHR / SPHR) certification. Hudson Center uses the SHRM Learning System, the #1 PHR / SPHR Prep Course materials, to prepare participants for the certification exams. According to SHRM, professionals who use the Learning System to prepare for the PHR and SPHR exams consistently beat the national pass rate.

Led by qualified and certified HR instructors, this program guides participants through the HR Certification Institute's body of knowledge. Sample test questions and periodic progress checks help reinforce classroom sessions. Participants will identify areas of strength to build on and areas where further concentrated study is needed in preparation for taking either exam.

The SHRM Learning System is included in your registration fee.

SPHR® Certification Eligibility Criteria: SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) candidates must submit an application for certification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI), an affiliate of SHRM (the Society for Human Resource Management). The SPHR certification exam is based on U.S. federal laws, regulations and practices and assesses all the functional areas of the HR field. SPHR questions tend to be more at the strategic and/or policy level. For more information, visit the HRCI website.

Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:

A minimum of 4years of experience in an exempt-level (professional) HR position with a master's degree or higher
A minimum of 5 years of experience in an exempt-level (professional) HR position with a bachelor's degree
A minimum of 7 years of experience in an exempt-level (professional) HR position with a high school diploma

A minimum of 2 years of experience in an exempt-level (professional) HR position with a bachelor's degree

Audience

This program is designed for professionals with varying levels of experience. Practicing HR professionals can increase their value within their organizations by fine-tuning existing skills and learning new practices. New practitioners can enroll in the Human Resource Professional program to take a first step toward a successful and fulfilling career.

While this course is not scheduled at this time, any of the executive education programs offered by the Hudson Center of Entrepreneurship and Executive Education (HCEEE) can be delivered to your organization either in our classroom or at your location. Please contact us for more information.

Program Fee

Fee of $1,500 includes tuition, instructional materials, and SHRM Learning System materials.

Instructors

Carol K. Flynn, SPHR

Ms. Flynn has more than 20 years of human resource management experience in various industries such as banking, education, technology, financial services, government, hospitality, manufacturing, media, and retail. Carol has a unique blend of private and public sector in-house human resource management expertise with consulting experience for large and small client organizations. She is past president of the Greater Miami Society for Human Resources Management and has served on the HR Florida State Council as legislative affairs chair. Carol has a Masters in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

Maggie W. Dunn, DBA, SPHR

Dr. Dunn has over 21 years of human resource leadership experience with Fortune 100 companies. She has worked extensively with business leaders across the U.S., Latin America, Asia and Europe. Her background includes leadership roles in human resources at Motorola and McDonnell Douglas Corporation and a consulting practice with worldwide experience. Dr. Dunn is a certified Leadership Coach and focuses on understanding organizational issues and leadership implications, working to explore organizational challenges and leadership solutions, with the intent to help clients achieve both client fulfillment and organizational success. Dr. Dunn has published articles on leadership in leading human resources journals.

Karen Abeleda, SPHR

Karen Abeleda has over 20 years of progressive HR leadership experience in high growth, performance-driven, multi-site environments, in both large and small organizations. With expertise in performance management, employee relations, training and development, and recruiting/retention, Karen served as Director of Human Resources for Continental Cablevision where she was responsible for all HR, safety, and training functions, as well as a 300+ seat national outbound call center. As Area Director of Human Resources for AT&T Broadband she oversaw all HR functions for Broward, Dade and Jacksonville cable systems. She also served as Regional Director/Senior Director of Human Resources were she directed the human resource functions including talent acquisition, retention, employee relations, performance management, and leadership development and oversaw a team of 10 HR professionals.

Karen earned her Master's in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University and her Bachelor's in Education from Marshall University and is a Dale Carnegie graduate in Effective Speaking and Human Relations. She holds a lifetime certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

Course Customization

Using core programs, we can customize the material to fit your corporate training needs. With our extensive resources and program facilitators, we will design a program that is tailored to fit your specified objectives and requirements.


Substitution, Cancellation, Fee and Transfer Policies

We realize that occasionally you need to cancel your registration. You can substitute another individual in your place at any time prior to the first day of a program.

If you wish to receive a credit toward a future program: we will allow you to transfer you registration to a future date of the same program you are enrolled in currently, provided we receive written notice two weeks prior to the start date of the class you are currently registered in. You are permitted to re-register only one time.

If you wish to receive a refund: written cancellations received 30 calendar days before a program begins will be issued a full refund, less a $150.00 processing fee; written cancellations received 6 to 29 calendar days prior to the start of a program will get 50 percent of the registration fee refunded. We apologize but we cannot provide a refund if we receive your written cancellation in five or fewer business days prior to the start of the program.

In the event of non-payment, the responsibility for any fees incurred in collecting the payment is the responsibility of the customer.
