    Publication Requirements

The publication requirement (CSA (DOC) 6096) is part of the competency requirement of all doctoral programs. This requirement is designed to demonstrate research, writing, and presentation abilities that have been acquired as a result of doctoral study. The following may be used to satisfy the publication requirement:

  • An article published in an academic journal or similar publication. For students specializing in management, the publication should make a contribution in a business area of choice.
  • An article published in the proceedings of a national professional conference, e.g., The Academy of Man.
  • A report or monograph published by a professional organization, corporation, or public agency where rigorous criteria for selection can be demonstrated.
  • Other printed materials will be judged on their academic content.
  • Candidacy Requirement

Candidacy indicates that the student has reached that point in the doctoral program when all coursework not associated with the dissertation has been completed. Only completion of the dissertation remains to fulfill degree requirements.

To achieve candidacy, each of the following requirements must be fulfilled:

    • Component 1 (Common Core Courses)
    • Component 2 (Specialty Courses)
    • Component 3 (Competencies)

      • Appointment of approved dissertation chair

Candidacy must be approved within four years of beginning the program.

    Dissertation

An academic committee of three doctoral qualified persons assists the student in the dissertation process. At least one of these members must be a full-time faculty member at Nova Southeastern University. The dissertation must be presented in accordance with the APA Style Manual and Huizenga School dissertation guidelines.
