Nageen Ali
Bachelor of Science in Accounting
Nageen Ali, an accounting major, is originally from Pakistan and now lives in Hollywood, Florida. She belongs to Alpha Chi National College Honor Society and Sigma Beta Delta, an international honor society for business, management, and administration. She served as president of NSU's Accounting Club. She is a recipient of the NSU Honors Scholarship and the Dean’s Award. Under the guidance of Bahaudin Mujtaba, DBA, Ali worked on research exploring the management style of businesses in Pakistan. In 2008, she worked as a student liaison, which provided support to seven student groups at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship. In the community, Ali has tutored students in math and has conducted food, clothing, and book drives for those in need. She plans to earn a master's degree in accounting and hopes to eventually work as an auditor for a public accounting firm.

Diana Karpowicz finished her bachelor's degree at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship in June 2007. She served as President of the NSU Chapter of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE).

Christopher Bergbauer
BS in Business
Christopher Bergbauer has just begun his studies toward earning a Bachelor of Science in Business degree.
He was awarded $1,000 toward his Huizenga School tuition based on being valedictorian of his class at Academy
High School, Boca Raton campus, June 2007. Christopher is sure his professors and studies will open his options for the future.

The typical weekend graduate student enrolled in the master's degree programs is 30-35 years old and 35-40 years old in the doctoral programs. Most work full-time—in the middle to upper levels of management—and are engaged in study for the purpose of professional development and advancement. The average age of full-time students is 23. |

Alissa Mure
MBA in Entrepreneurship
Alissa Mure is currently an entrepreneurship student in the MBA program at Nova Southeastern University. She studied Political Science and Criminology at the University of Florida, and worked at City Furniture prior to entering Nova Southeastern. Though she enjoys politics, Alissa wants to establish a company and is ready to utilize the skills she learned at NSU. She will be graduating in June 2008, and is looking forward to starting her own business soon thereafter. As Graduate Student of the Term, Alissa will receive tuition for one course in her program.

Larry Conway
Master of Science in Leadership Online Program
Larry Conway is in the Master of Science in Leadership Online Program. Conway and his wife, Hollye, work with a church-sponsored organization rescuing street children in Nairobi, Kenya. Presently, there are 49 teenagers in the program. Larry and Hollye have lived in Kenya for 21 years. They have two boys, Andrew age 19, who is studying at university in Texas and Micah, age 14, who is in the 8th grade in Nairobi.

Daniel Cantillo
MBA One-Year Program with Concentration in Finance
Daniel is a native of Cali, Colombia. He has degrees from the Culinary Institute of America in New York (AA in Culinary Arts) and Florida International University in Miami (BS in Hospitality). He began his MBA at NSU in January 2006 and will finish in December of 2007. Daniel feels he has learned very applicable skills in his MBA studies as well as meeting very interesting and well-positioned people. His goal is to find an internship in finance as a bridge for future career advancement.

Andrew Koenig
MBA One-Year Program
Andrew Koenig earned his MBA in Entrepreneurship in March 2007. After completion of an internship with his family’s business, City Furniture, Andrew assumed a full-time job in the accounting department. He will begin an Accounting Specialization in Fall 2007.

Akshat Bhargava
MIBA
Akshat Bhargava, an economics major, is originally from New Delhi, India. He is a member of the
Dual Admission program in International Business Administration. He was inducted into the Alpha
Chi National College Honor Society in 2007 and served as an induction officer in 2008. Bhargava
also is a member of Sigma Beta Delta, an international honor society for business, management,
and administration, and Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society. He has held
several positions in student leadership, including chair Strategic Forum Student Group 2008-2009,
treasurer Graduate Business Student Association 2008-2009, president of the Undergraduate Student
Government Association (SGA) in 2007-2008 and president of Nova International Student Association
in 2006-2007. He served as captain of the SGA and NSU Ethics Bowl Southeast Regional Competition
Team in 2007. Bhargava has made the Dean’s List for the past four years. He is the 2009 Student
of the Year at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship. He also received
the Juan Pablo Memorial Leadership Award in 2006 and 2007. He was named the Outstanding SGA
member of of the Year in 2007-2008. In his free time, Bhargava wrote a biweekly column about
student life for NSU’s student newspaper, The Current. He has served as a student member of
several committees, including the Academic Integrity Committee from 2006-2008, Community Fest
Committee from 2007-2009, Business School GALA committee in 2009 and the Commencement Committee
in 2008. After his Master's degree Akshat wants to pursue a career as an entrepreneur and a
philanthropist.

Beatriz Vargas
MIBA with certificate in Human Resources Development
Beatriz Vargas worked for the MBA/MIBA Intern Program for the year 2007-8 in the MBA program office; she developed
a new internship management system. This system enabled the streamlining of matching student skills with company
hiring needs which as a result has transformed the internship program into a successful tool for both students and
target employers. During 2005-6 she worked at the NSU Office of Residential Life developing and implementing training
and development programs for the Resident Advisors. As a student, she has been pivotal in the success of the Huizenga
School Strategic Forum Student Group. Since 2005 she has been also a member of the Society of Human Resource Management.
She is well-known at NSU for her outstanding dedication to supporting students, and especially for her heartfelt
interest in helping international students. Her efforts have also made many of the Graduate Business Student Association
events successful. Beatriz earned a BA in Psychology in her native Colombia and is mother to 10 year-old Julieta.

Sundar Thyagarajan
MBA in Entrepreneurship
Sundar Thyagarajan was honored at NSU’s Student Life Achievement Award’s 2007 ceremony by receiving an “Oscar” from Dean Randolph Pohlman. Sundar was awarded a Master of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship degree in June 2007. Sundar is employed as Staff Engineer at Motorola Inc,, a member of Shiva Vishnu Temple of South Florida, and a United Way member of the Volunteer Broward Organization’s First Responder Program. He serves as the V.P. of Membership in ”Toastmasters“ within the Asian Business Council (ABC). While at NSU, Sundar was an active member of the Huizenga School Strategic Forum Student Group. Sundar is married and the father of two boys.

Ms. Salghur was also Nova Southeastern University Student of the Year for 2006
Shruti is pictured with NSU Pres. Ray Ferrero, Jr. at the annual NSU Student Life Achievement Awards. During the two years that Shruti studied at NSU, she was Graduate Assistant for International Student Affairs. Resident Advisor for the Office of Residential Life and Housing, Senior Research Business Assistant for Huizenga School faculty, and
Shruti held several officer positions for the Alpha Kappa Psi co-ed business fraternity and was Executive President of Nova International Student Association (NISA), She was an active member of the Huizenga School Strategic Forum Student Group and Graduate Business Student Association
Shruti was a recipient of a 2005 Ross-Matz Academic Scholarship awarded by the Huizenga School.

Cathi Hagood

American Dietetic Association Foundation’s Beatrice Donaldson Davis Graduate Scholarship
Cathi Hagood MBA, MS, RD, LD/N, CDE has been selected as the recipient of the American Dietetic Association Foundation’s 2008 Beatrice Donaldson Davis Graduate Scholarship. Ms. Hagood will be continuing post-graduate work at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship. A member of the Association since 1986, she has served in numerous local and state positions, both elected and appointed, including president of the Palm Beach Dietetic Association. Additionally Ms. Hagood served as a research participant in the “Critical Thinking in Measuring Energy Expenditure” and a work group to publish evidence analysis on nutritional counseling for the association. As a registered and licensed dietitian, Ms. Hagood has over twenty years healthcare experience and has recently joined Liberty Medical Supply as a Senior Diabetes Educator.

Daniel Garzon

National Society of Hispanic MBAs) Scholarship
Florida Bankers Educational Foundation Scholarship Award
Daniel Garzon has been awarded an NSHMBA (National Society for Hispanic MBAs) Scholarship in the amount of $2,625 for calendar year 2008. He was honored at the NSHMBA's 19th Annual Conference and Career Expo in Atlanta, Georgia and featured on CNN Español with Daniel Viotto on his prime time show “Encuentro.”
In addition, he received a $2,500 scholarship from the FBEF (Florida Bankers Educational Foundation). Daniel has been active in the Huizenga School Strategic Forum Student Group as the Co-Chair and has worked as the Graduate Business Student Association's treasurer in 2007-8. Daniel is currently employed by BankAtlantic.

Jenise Collado

Work-Life Balance Institute for Women Scholarship
Jenise Collado is currently a graduate student with a marketing concentration at Nova Southeastern University. She is employed on campus as the Graduate Assistant in The Office of Student Financial Aid and plays a leadership role within The Strategic Forum Student Group.
Jenise is a graduate of San Francisco State University with a bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology. Jenise traveled extensively in Europe, Australia, Asia and North Africa taking language immersion, culture and culinary courses. She relocated to Chiang Mai, Thailand where she became a certified English teacher and representative for The Thailand National English Program. After spending 2 years abroad, Ms. Collado settled in Miami. She worked as Sales Director and moon lighted as public relations specialist for the Miami based Sun Post newspaper where she was voted “Rookie of the year” in 2005. In 2006, she was invited to join a private equity company Genesis Exchange as their Manager of Partner Relations. Her role included engaging new clients, communications and public relations. In 2007, she left her management position to begin her MBA.
Jenise is an active member both on campus and off. When she is not spending time with the Strategic Forum, you can find her acting as a Big Sister with The Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization or as a committee member at the Make a Wish Foundation of South Florida. She is an Olympic distance tri-athlete affiliated with the United States Triathlon Association. Jenise will graduate in December of 2008 and will continue following her career passion in the marketing and communication industry.

Nadine A. Francis
MBA in Human Resource Management
Jacki Tuckfield Scholarship
Nadine’s motto is “Nothing is impossible for those who believe, and with that belief, are driven by faith in a greater force than themselves.” Nadine graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in New York City and at age 17 enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.
After 4 years of service, Nadine returned to New York City, later graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology with a degree in International Trade & Marketing. Moving to Florida, Nadine became a licensed realtor. Currently she is pursuing a Master's Degree in the Huizenga School’s Human Resource Management Program. Her career aspiration is to hold a
senior level position in the Dept. of Defense in the Pentagon overseeing a team responsible for orientation, training and development.
