The foundation of our undergraduate program is represented by our faculty. Practicing professionals who share their passion and expertise with students and fellow professionals, Huizenga School faculty illustrate why so many successful graduates continue to support the Huizenga School. We briefly introduce you to a select few of our faculty.
Rebecca Abraham, D.B.A.
Dr. Rebecca Abraham's influence upon our finance major and the students who pursue this degree program has been profound. An active researcher, she presently has two manuscripts in preparation and has published more than two dozen referred journal articles in investment and industrial/organizational psychology.
In addition to her research interests, Dr. Abraham has been recognized for her excellence in teaching. She is a member of the Board of the Academy of Finance and works closely with local high school and junior college students who express interest in finance.
Russell Abratt, Ph.D.
Dr. Abratt brings international expertise to marketing. He has worked as a marketing strategy consultant in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, China, Australia, the U.K., and the United States. He has served as a visiting professor at leading business schools in the United States, Australia, and the U.K..
As author or co-author of three leading books in Marketing and Sales Management, Dr. Abratt encourages his students to understand and design marketing strategies. The recipient of a number of distinguished teaching awards, Dr. Abratt combines his marketing insight with his passion for excellence creating a classroom environment that is challenging and stimulating.
Nicholas A. Castaldo, M.B.A.
Experience the benefit of 25 years of experience in consumer products and the service industry that can be brought into the classroom by Nicholas Castaldo. Mr. Castaldo joined Nova Southeastern University in August, 2004 as a Lecturer at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship. Since that time he has taught undergraduate courses in management and marketing.
Mr. Castaldo brings into sharp focus the real-time challenges found in a variety of organizations, both public and private, large and small. As a change leader, he has served as Vice-President for Marketing in several national and multi-national corporations. He brings his knowledge and dedication to excellence into his classrooms challenging students to extend themselves and their leadership skills.
James Barry, D.B.A.
Learn from a 25-year veteran of the corporate world. Dr. Barry is experienced in industrial, government and commercial marketing. He has served as a marketing executive for several Fortune 500 companies, including GE, BFGoodrich, Gould and AT&T. He brings his corporate experience into the classroom, teaching courses in marketing communications, salesmanship, internet marketing and international marketing.
Dr. Barry’s research in business-to-business (B2B) relationship marketing has been presented at several American Marketing Association (AMA) and Academy of Marketing Science (AMS) Educator Conferences.
Peter T. DiPaolo, D.B.A.
With over 33 years of engineering, management, and executive consultancy in all aspects of business, Dr. DiPaolo has the depth of professional and academic expertise required of Huizenga School graduate faculty. His areas of interest include research & development, management development, employee recruitment and development, strategic and fiscal planning, and academic course development. Repeatedly listed in Who's Who in America, Dr. DiPaolo is an active member of the Huizenga community.
Peter Finley, Ph.D.
Experience the real-world of sport and recreation management from Dr. Finley, who specializes in areas of sport marketing, sport law, and the sociology of sport. He started his education career as a high school teacher where he also coached track and field. During this experience he was named an Excellence in Education “Significant Educator” in 1998, and lead 11 athletes to All-State honors over a 5-year period.
A member of several professional organizations, including the Sport and Recreation Law Association (SRLA), the Sport Marketing Association (SMA) and the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM), Dr. Finley teaches courses for the Sport and Recreation Management program.
Jeffrey Fountain, Ph.D.
A member of the North American Society of Sport Management (NASSM), the Sport Marketing Association (SMA), Sport and Recreation Law (SRLA), and the World Future Society, Dr. Fountain teaches in the area of Sport Management for the Sport and Wellness Program.
His research interests include pricing issues in sport, consumer, and organization relations, sport camp management, and the future of sport.
Baiyun Gong, Ph.D.
Dr. Baiyun Gong is an Assistant Professor of Management at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University. She received her Ph.D. in Business Administration from the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Gong’s research interests include temporal research, focusing on the effects of interruptions in organizations, organizational cognition, focusing on the construct of transactive memory, and social capital in international business, focusing on the evolution of guanxi.
Charles W. Harrington, M.A.
Study economics with a professional who has served as legislative assistant to the Chairman of the Committee on Urban Affairs (Commonwealth of Massachusetts). Experience the benefit that comes with experience in international education. Join the hundreds of students who have studied with Charles W. Harrington.
Mr. Harrington has been with Nova Southeastern University since 1986. He currently teaches Principles of Economics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, Monetary Theory and Policy, International Economics, and Business Cycles and Forecasting.
Judith A. Harris, D.B.A.
Dr. Harris joined Nova Southeastern University in 1996. With extensive experience in the accounting field, she challenges her students to carefully consider the opportunities available within the accounting and finance areas.
If your interests are in accounting, you will want to explore membership in the Accounting Club - a student organization advised by Dr. Harris. With current research interests in the area of cost and managerial accounting, Dr. Harris provides students opportunity to join her in her research and to present at regional and national conferences.
J. Preston Jones, D.B.A.
Dr. J. Preston Jones is not just a professor; he is the Associate Dean in Nova Southeastern University's Wayne Huizenga Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship. His executive and academic experiences have combined to enable him to accomplish much in his professional career.
Dr. Jones' professional career includes working more than 15 years with the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies. In addition, he has worked with companies such as American Express and Federal Express to create tailor-made Master of Business Administration programs for their employees, and he has taught in NSU's cluster-based programs in Motorola, BellSouth, American Express, ATT/Lucent and Westinghouse.
Barri Litt
Ms. Barri Litt is a Professor of Accounting at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship.
Terrell G. Manyak, Ph.D.
A Full-Time professor of Public Administration, Dr. Manyak joined NSU in 1992. Author of nearly 50 professional/academic publications, his expertise in the global economy and human resource management is well-established.
You will find Dr. Manyak both actively involved with students in the classroom and serving Southeast Florida. As Assistant Governor for Rotary in South Florida, he devotes time to Rotary international exchange students and serves as faculty advisor to the Rotary Club. He is active in the Academy of Management, American Society for Public Administration, Southern Management Association, and the International Association for Schools and Institutes of Administration.
Karen McKenzie, Ph.D.
Dr. McKenzie is Professor of Accounting at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, Nova Southeastern University. Before joining NSU in 2007, she was an Associate Professor at Florida Atlantic University (1989-2007). While at FAU, Dr. McKenzie served as first Chair of the College of Business Faculty Development Council and Chair of the School of Accounting Curriculum Committee.
Bahaudin Mujtaba, D.B.A.
Dr. Bahaudin Mujtaba is an Assistant Professor of International Management and Human Resources at the Huizenga School. Bahaudin had originally joined Nova Southeastern University in 1996 as an Adjunct Professor of Management and Human Resources at the Graduate Business Programs for the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship. Prior to joining NSU on full-time basis, Bahaudin was Campus College Chair for the College of Graduate Business and Management at the University of Phoenix - Tampa Campus. Bahaudin has worked as an internal consultant, trainer, and teacher at the Education and Training Development Department of Human Resources with Publix Super Markets Inc. for six years. He also worked with Publix in retail management for ten years. In his capacity as a consultant and trainer, Bahaudin has worked with various firms in the areas of management, cross-cultural communication, customer value/service, and diversity training.
Kathleen (Bay) O'Leary, Ph.D.
Dr. Kathleen (Bay) O’Leary joined the Huizenga School of Business as an Associate Professor of Marketing in January, 2008. Prior to that she was teaching at Barry University in North Miami. Bay teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate programs.
Dr. O’Leary has many professional publications. Her main area of research focuses on Internet marketing. Dr. O’Leary’s teaching experience includes managerial marketing, international marketing and buyer behavior.
Ordean G. Olson, D.B.A.
Dr. Olson has taught at NSU for 14 years. Specializing in Financial Management and International Finance, he has served as seminar leader for numerous organizations including the National Football League. He also competes as a professional golfer on the Senior Professional Golf (PGA) Tour during the summer months.
Dr. Olson brings his more than 25 years of experience in the field of financial management into the classroom. As former senior negotiator for the State of California he guides students through the often complex art of negotiation. He and his students explore innovative and effective solutions to the challenges organizations face in today's global environment.
Randall Rentfro, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Accounting, Dr. Rentfro has been recognized for his excellence in teaching and was named Accounting Professor of the Year by the Accounting Students Association three times.
Before tackling higher education, Dr. Rentfro climbed the corporate ladder while serving in a variety of accounting positions with Caterpillar, Inc. and Decatur Memorial Hospital Healthcare System. Prior to coming to South Florida, Dr. Rentfro was on the faculty of Millikin University in Decatur, IL, where he co-chaired the University’s strategic planning process and served as the University’s first Director of Institutional Research and Assessment.
Belay Seyoum, Ph.D.
A graduate of McGill University (Montreal, Canada), Dr. Seyoum joined the Huizenga School in 1991. He teaches a variety of courses in international business and economics.
Dr. Seyoum is the author of four books and numerous professional publications. His current research interests include high technology trade and global e-commerce.
Randi L. Sims, Ph.D.
Recognized nationally for expertise within business ethics, Dr. Sims helps beginning researchers learn to make independent decisions to properly analyze and interpret social science data. Responsible for teaching research methodology, business ethics, and organizational behavior, Dr. Sims encourages her students to challenge themselves and their organizations to seek effective and ethical solutions to pressing concerns.
Leslie Cauthen Tworoger, D.B.A.
Dr. Tworoger has taught at Nova Southeastern University since 2000. Her courses include Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management and Principles of Management, and Leadership Theory and Practice. Research areas include leadership, uses of power in organizations and privatization. She serves as the faculty advisor to the Graduate Business Association.
Dr. Tworoger is an active member of the Southeast Florida community. She has been recognized by the Philharmonic Society and the March of Dimes for her long-time service. She is a board member of the Community Foundation of Broward.
Thomas M. Tworoger, D.B.A.
Dr. Tworoger teaches and directs the entrepreneurship concentration in the M.B.A. program as well as directing the undergraduate minor in entrepreneurship.
Arthur T. Weinstein, Ph.D.
Internationally recognized for his work in market definition and segmentation, Dr. Weinstein teaches a variety of graduate marketing courses and executive seminars.
Author of six books and more than 60 scholarly articles and papers, Dr. Weinstein introduces his students to the latest in market definition and segmentation.
Sara (Suri) Weisfeld-Spolter, Ph.D.
Sara (Suri) Weisfeld-Spolter joined the Huizenga School of Business as an assistant professor of marketing in October 2008. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she earned her PhD, MS and BBA in marketing at Baruch College, City University of NY. Suri has been published in Marketing Science and has presented several papers at the Association of Consumer Research (ACR) conferences.
Her research focuses primarily on different aspects of consumer behavior. In addition to her research, Suri loves to teach and has taught a wide variety of undergraduate business and marketing courses. She especially enjoys teaching marketing research, buyer behavior and marketing principles and applications.
