FIN 3115 - Financial Decision Making


I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is an advanced extension of Corporation Finance. The financial calculator is used extensively to develop concepts such as present value, the cost of capital, and capital structure. Cases are employed throughout for in-depth coverage of corporate finance concepts. Prerequisite: FIN 3010. Credit can not be obtained for both this course and FIN 3110.

III. LEARNING OUTCOMES
1)        To develop an understanding of the financial system.
2)        To be able to interpret and forecast financial statements.
3)        To develop time value of money concepts beyond mere tabular analysis to the use of equations and financial calculators.
4)        To set up financial planning models.
5)        Bond and stock valuation.
6)        To provide an overview of risk management, hedging, and selecting an investment portfolio.
7)        An introduction to the capital asset pricing model.
8)        A comparison of option pricing models and contingent claims.
9)        An overview of capital structure decisions.
