I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course affects every aspect of the organization. This course addresses how to build measurement strategies for all HR activity so that the impact can be determined. A value-adding approach will be taken so that HR practitioners will be able to exhibit an understanding of the business. This will include aspects that influence organizational quality, productivity, services, and profitability. HR will be assessed as a system within a system. Students will learn how to position HR as a strategic partner. Prerequisite: HRMP 5200 or equivalent.

III. LEARNING OUTCOMES
A. Entrance Competencies: When beginning this course, the student will be able to: 1) Describe all the sub-functions within HR. 2) Use basic mathematical formulas. 3) Discuss organizational strategy. 4) Define appropriate HR strategies needed to respond to business objectives. B. Exit Competencies: Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1) Determine ways to increase HR's strategic influence. 2) Know how to design an HR measurement system. 3) Compare and contrast options for measuring value-creating elements of an HR department's overall strategic implementation system. 4) Assess strategic HR performance management competence. 5) Appraise corporate efforts of HR measurement throughout the value chain. 6) Determine the attitudes necessary for total HR systems measurement. 7) Know and use approaches for measuring: a. planning and staffing b. compensation and benefits c. employee and labor relations d. training and development 8) Measure HR alignment.
