I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is a study of the international political, bureaucratic, and legal structures regulating and governing international trade and commerce, including multilateral and bilateral arrangements and organizations. Planning for the removal of trade barriers, methods of international contracting, and doing business abroad in the context of international legal environment will be a primary course focus. The definition and role of business ethics in national contexts is considered.

III. LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the completion of this course, students will be able to:1) Understand the principals underlying the legal environment of global business. 2) Identify the legal rules and regulations affecting global businesses as well as the risks and liabilities of international expansion. 3) Perceive the structure and importance of law and framework of the global economy in international business transactions. 4) Closely examine the general principles and sources of international law that affect global businesses. 5) Recognize new developments and trends that will affect future international transactions. 6) Recognize the risks involved in international transactions including issues of payment, collection, transportation and the role of insurance in international commerce. 7) Identify the various forms and options for international businesses as well as the different kinds of mechanisms used to resolve international disputes. 8) Distinguish between the different types of international payment mechanisms and the risks and requirements of each. 9) Know the difference between Public Law and Private Law. 10) Understand how the United Nations operates and be able to identify the various trade areas and unions around the world. 11) Develop a sense of logic and understanding of solving techniques needed by a manager in the international business community. 12) Understand in detail the principles and the laws prescribed by the C.I.S.G.; and be able to compare those rules to the domestic laws of the United States (ie: the U.C.C.) as well as the laws of other countries. 13) Discuss the various structures of international businesses and the applicable forms of international contracts including their negotiation, formation, and enforcement.
