INB 5848 - Strategic International Decisions


I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
Strategic International Decisions is designed as a capstone course for the M.I.B.A. Program, integrating skills developed throughout the M.I.B.A. curriculum. The workshop covers personal and business strategies that create value for the individual and the organization. Topics covered include international career decisions, such as national identity, recruitment, remuneration, immigration and emigration, international taxation and estate taxes, change management, international leadership, cross-cultural ethics, strategies for changing locations of businesses and assets, corporate responsibility to foreign employees, and the national identification of corporations. Prerequisites: Full matriculation, completion of all required courses, and a 3.0 GPA. This class does not calculate into the student's GPA. This course is not financial aid eligible when taken by itself in one term.

III. LEARNING OUTCOMES
Entrance Competencies:

1) Completion of all other MIBA courses with GPA 3.0 or greater.
2) Broad knowledge of international business covering economics, marketing,finance, accounting, legal, import/export, new ventures, international competitiveness, HR, management and cross cultural.

Exit Competencies:

1) Understanding of complex environments for individual and corporate strategic   decision-making.
2) Knowledge of the basis for taxation internationally for individuals and corporations.
3) Understanding of the career paths for the international executive.
4) Understanding of national controls on the international individual.
5) Understanding of national controls on the international corporation.
6) Understanding of international negotiations.
7) Understanding of risk and security management internationally.
8) Understanding of integrity and ethical decision-making.
9) The ability to think about political and economic environments, and to make strategic international decisions for individual and firm purposes.
