III. LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students will be able to: 1) Apply the principles of interview questionnaire protocol design, including writing, revising and refining open-ended questions to elicit respondents' unique perspectives. 2) Describe and define five basic approaches to qualitative research. 3) Develop and refine listening skills from the stance of "not knowing" (Creswell's "bracketing" your experience). 4) Conduct basic qualitative interviews applying the above described skills. 5) Analyze qualitative data, e.g., apply content analysis to interview data. 6) Write the key components of the method and results section for one of the five approaches to qualitative research described by Creswell (1998); and incorporate them into an individual research project that incorporates the major components of a qualitative study (from beginning to end - introduction to conclusion).
