HRM 6315 - Seminar in Strategic Planning in Human Resource Manangement


I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course will emphasize decision-making processes in the development and maintenance of various program elements in human resource management. Decision analysis will also be considered. Traditional and current issues-oriented programming will be addressed. Program elements that may be included are human resource planning, recruitment and selection, performance and promotion systems, incentives and awards, compensation and benefits, and human resource information systems (HRIS). Prerequisite: MGT 6020.

III. LEARNING OUTCOMES
1)        Share their HRM Philosophy when requested, in a professional format.
2)        Discuss current HRM strategy issues in a professional peer discussion.
3)        Make strategy decisions concerning rightsizing, recruitment and hiring practices.
4)        Administer recruitment & selection programs for a diversified work force.
5)        Facilitate problem solving processes for a variety of dysfunctional HR issues such as sexual harassment, aids, violence, illegal workplace practices, labor-management issues, and substance abuse in the work place.
6)        Manage training, education, and development programs and activities designed to address employee and management workplace performance needs in a dynamic and competitively challenged work place.
7)        Apply benchmarking, measurement, and evaluation techniques and methods for HRM programs and processes.
8)        Serve as internal consultants for HRM strategic programming by utilizing the course resources and learning gained from peer course projects.
9)        Identify and Implement HRM theory and applied practices for potential dissertation research.
