INB 6410 - Seminar in Global Management


I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course is a review of the field of global management, specifically focusing on three main areas of research. First, we examine theories of international management and culture, secondly, we examine the management of people across borders - international human resource management, and the role of women in international business. Thirdly, we examine academic research related to defining and managing values and ethics in the international environment. Prerequisite: INB 6110.

II. PREREQUISITES
( CSA 6110 OR INB 6110 )
AND ( CSA 6010 OR MGT 6010 )

III. LEARNING OUTCOMES
A. Entrance competencies:

1) Completion of the core course in international business.
2) Knowledge of management theory, organizational behavior and leadership.
3) Understanding of research methodologies, both quantitative and qualitative.
4) Ability to use APA style and article research techniques.

B. Exit Competencies:

On completion of the course students will:
1) Have a broad concept of the scope of the field of global management.
2) Understand and critique theories of international management.
3) Be familiar with the major streams of research in cross cultural management.
4) Be conversant with literature examining the implementation of strategy, structure and systems.
5) Be able to understand and examine decision-making with integrity in global business.
6) Be able to conduct effective research utilizing methods of scientific inquiry to provide recommendations for future research and global managers.
