Explore how to recognize the importance of leadership in your organization, and its role in creating and sustaining a high performance culture. This program evaluates high performing organizations, their characteristics, and the role of leadership in a high performance environment. During this program, you will: discover the effect of leaders on followers, evaluate the issues facing all groups and teams, participate in exercises to demonstrate inter-group dynamics and understand management.


PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

As a participant, you will learn to: understand the difference between leadership and management, appreciate the need for a balance of both leadership and management skills, examine relevant research on effective leadership skills, identify leadership "best practices," and begin to change your individual leadership skills.

INSTRUCTOR/S

Barry Barnes, Ph.D.


Dr. Barnes teaches a variety of courses in the MBA and Doctoral programs at NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, including strategic planning, delivering superior customer value, and organizational behavior. Before entering the academic world, Barry started his management and IT career with IBM in 1968, and later spent twelve years with John Deere. He also worked as an IT consultant and has owned three small businesses. He completed his Ph.D. in Business at the University of Kansas, and earned both an MBA and BBA from the University of Missouri.

We accept the following forms of payment: check (payable to "Nova Southeastern University") and credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express). Payment arrangements must be made for your registration to be considered complete.



SUBSTITUTION, CANCELLATION, AND TRANSFER POLICIES

Program fees are due in full upon application to the program. If you are unable to attend this program, we will accept an appropriate substitute participant to take your place up to the day of the program. There is a $75 administration fee for substitutions made less than two weeks prior to the start of the program. NSU will grant an 80 percent refund for cancellations made two or more weeks prior to the start of the program. For cancellations made within two weeks prior to the start of the program, a 50 percent refund will be granted. There is no refund if you withdraw after the start of the program. We will allow one transfer of this registration to a future offering of the same program. We will charge an administration fee for any future postponements.
