Dr. William Harrington

Dr. William J. Harrington is a professor of management in the Nova Southeastern University H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship. He has been with Nova Southeastern University since 1983. He has diverse teaching responsibilities including Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Values Integration Masters Capstone Workshop, Organizational Health and Reward Systems, 21st Century Management Practices and Great Leadership Books. Dr. Harrington is currently conducting research and publishing academic works in the specialization of Spirituality, Leadership and the Workplace.
This fine record of teaching has been supported with many allied endeavors including the directorship of several institutes including the Institute for Family Business, the Institute of Banking and Financial Institutions, and the Institute of Commercial Real Estate Development. He assisted in the development of the first executive MBA in the School of Business.
His teaching experience includes several international assignments including Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, Panama, Germany, England, Brazil, Jamaica and the Bahamas. In 2001, he was honored by being named the recipient of the "Professor of the Year" award at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship.
Besides his fine academic experience base, Dr. Harrington has established a broad business-related consulting foundation in a variety of organizations. These include, for example, American Express, Citicorp - NY, Miami Beach Police Department, SunBanks, Inc., Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and Boston, Holy Cross Hospital, Citrix Systems, Florida Power and Light, Motorola, West Boca Medical Center, the Broward County School System, and BankAtlantic. He has served on the board of directors for Catholic Charities in the Archdiocese of Miami, Special Olympics, and ThinkLife, Inc. He is a Eucharistic Minister and Lector in the Catholic Church.
Dr. Harrington held management positions in human resource management and organizational design management with Citicorp - NY, Raytheon Missile Systems - Mass., the Gillette Companies- Mass, AVCO Missile Systems, Inc.- Mass, Central National Bank - Ohio, Southeast 1st Bank and Pan American Banks - Florida.
Dr. Harrington has degrees from Boston College, St. Anselm College, Nova Southeastern University, as well as a post-doctoral specialization in human resource management from NSU. He also completed the Citicorp-sponsored two-year executive program (MOE) at the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
Dr. Harrington is a former marathon runner, ski instructor, and competitive bicyclist. He served three years in the U.S. Army in Europe
