Darshana joined the Nova Southeastern University in August, 2009. Prior to joining NSU, she was an Assistant Professor of Finance at Minnesota State University, Mankato. She received her Ph.D. from University of North Texas in December, 2006. Her educational qualifications include B.Com (Accounting and Auditing), M.A (Economics), and CFA (ICFAI).
Darshana's research interests are in the areas of corporate finance with special attention to capital structure theories, market microstructure, and earnings yield. Her current projects include the study of trading volume patterns around seasoned equity offerings and the relation between adjusted earnings yield and real expected returns. She has presented her findings at various academic conferences across the country.
Darshana enjoys teaching and continuously thrives to transform her perseverance, commitment, and enthusiasm for teaching into a more fun-loving and educative experience for her students. She received the Outstanding Finance Faculty Award at Minnesota State University, Mankato for two consecutive years, 2007-08 and 2008-09. She was also a recipient of the Teaching Fellowship Award at University of North Texas in the year 2004-05.
