Dr. George Hanbury

Dr. Hanbury is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Nova Southeastern University. Prior to his appointment as executive vice president, he had a career in municipal administration totaling more than thirty years, and was the chief executive officer (city manager) to the following cities: Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Portsmouth, Virginia; and Virginia Beach, Virginia. In addition, he was an Assistant City Manager in the cities of Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Dr. Hanbury holds a Ph.D. degree in Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University, a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Old Dominion University in Virginia, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a major in Public Administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). He has been certified through the Senior Executive Institute at the University of Virginia and was inducted into Pi Alpha Alpha, the national honor society for the field of public affairs and public administration.
His principal teaching areas are: Leadership, Organizational Development, Organizational Theory, Public Policy Analysis, Public Administration, Budgeting and Finance, and Comparative Government and Economics.
