Dr. Bahaudin Mujtaba

To some of his students and colleagues, he's known as “Dr. Publix” because of his extensive history with the supermarket chain giant, which includes training thousands of its managers in the corporate philosophies that have landed it near the top of Fortune's “100 Best Companies to Work For” since 1998. But what Bahaudin G. Mujtaba brings to the classroom is much more.

His personal and professional experiences include escaping with his family to the United States from his native Afghanistan during Russian occupation; working his way up from a dishwasher at a Publix Bakery to a department manager, and ultimately, senior trainer and executive coach for the Publix Department of Human Resources; serving in a wealth of academic capacities; and consulting nationally and internationally, including returning to Afghanistan to help rebuild an economy that has been destroyed by war and terrorism.

Mujtaba's accomplishments stem from a lifelong love of learning, a trait that was instilled in him and his five siblings by his parents. “Although we knew little English when we first arrived in the United States, our parents encouraged us to work hard, to work honestly, to learn, to go to school, and to pursue our passions.”
