Dr. Randall Rentfro

Dr. Rentfro is currently an Assistant Professor of Accounting in the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business & Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University, having joined the faculty in July 2005. Dr. Rentfro earned his Ph.D. from Florida Atlantic University, where he served as an Assistant Professor of Accounting following the completion of his doctorate in December 2000. During his time at FAU, Dr. Rentfro was recognized for his excellence in teaching and three times was named Accounting Professor of the Year by the Accounting Students Association.
Prior to coming to South Florida, Dr. Rentfro was on the faculty of Millikin University in Decatur, IL. At Millikin, he was involved in a variety of roles both inside and outside the classroom. He co-chaired the University’s strategic planning process with the University Provost, and he served as the University’s first Director of Institutional Research and Assessment.
Before entering higher education, Dr. Rentfro held a variety of accounting positions with Caterpillar, Inc. and was the controller of the Decatur Memorial Hospital Healthcare System. He draws upon his varied work experiences to enrich his teaching and to guide his research efforts.
Dr. Rentfro’s research interests focus on understanding the behaviors of financial statement preparers and the factors that influence those behaviors. His primary research to-date has examined the roles that accounting standards and incentives play in the earnings management activities of corporate accountants in the US.
