Dr. John Sennetti

Dr. John T. Sennetti is a full professor of accounting, auditing and information systems at Nova Southeastern University's School of Business. Since his start at Nova in 1996 he has created and taught new auditing and ethics courses for the on-campus Masters of Accounting (MACC) and on-line electronic masters (e-MACC) programs. He also created three courses for the doctoral program. He has lectured to and studied with auditors, doctoral students and professors from many countries. Having served as an associate professor in statistics and information systems at Texas Tech and later as a professor of accounting at Florida International University, he is occasionally called upon to serve as an expert witness in the use of statistical and accounting evidence, and has served nationally recognized cases. He and his doctoral students won the Best Paper Award for papers presented to the Ninth Symposium on Research in Accounting given by the American Accounting Association in August, 2004, and to the Academy of Business Disciplines on November 2, 2007.

Dr. Sennetti has degrees from Virginia Tech (PhD, Statistics), the University of Florida (M. Statistics), Bucknell University (MA, Mathematics), and the University of Scranton (BA, cum laude, Mathematics). He is certified as an accountant in the State of Texas. While in Texas, in addition to his academic duties, he wrote a monthly column on national and regional economic indicators for Texas Business magazine and local newspapers.

Doctoral students inspire Dr. Sennetti. In response he has offered the doctoral course, "Persuasion as Prelude to Proof: Getting Published," which uses social theory to describe the acceptance of academic papers. He has published in many journals including the Journal of Finance, Auditing: a Journal of Practice & Theory, Managerial Auditing, the Journal of Forensic Accounting, Research on Professional Responsibility and Ethics in Accounting, the Journal of the American Taxation Association, Interfaces: a TIMS-ORSA Journal, the Journal of Statistical and Computation and Simulation, Communications in Statistics, the Journal Applied Management & Entrepreneurship, Issues in Accounting Education, the Journal of Accounting Education, the Journal of Recreational Mathematics, the Journal For the Art of Teaching, Collegiate Forum, The Government Accountant's Journal, the Journal of Pension Planning and Compliance, the National Public Accountant, and in many other statistical and accounting sources.

Dr. Sennetti and his wife reside in Miami, Florida.
