Dr. Randi Sims

Dr. Sims is currently a Professor for Nova Southeastern University, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She obtained her doctoral degree in Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University.
Dr. Sims joined Nova Southeastern University in 1985. During this time she has served in both administrative and faculty roles. Her prior administrative responsibilities included course scheduling, the hiring of adjunct faculty, the coordination of student advisement, and graduation approval.
During the early years with the department, Dr. Sims was responsible for teaching dozens of management and research topic courses. As the department has grown, the goal of specialized faculty for each academic area was realized. Her current teaching responsibilities include Principles of Management, Business Ethics, and Research Methods. Classes include undergraduate, graduate, in-class and online.
An active researcher, Dr. Sims’ most recent work investigates the relationship between employee ethical decision making and national culture. She has worked with co-authors residing in Taiwan and Turkey. Her research has appeared in Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Education for Business, Educational and Psychological Measurement, International Journal of Value Based Management, and Journal of Psychology (among others). In addition to her almost two dozen refereed journal publications within the last 10 years, Dr. Sims frequently presents her research at national and international management and ethics conferences.
Dr. Sims’ expertise within the business ethics area has been recognized by local and national journalists who have interviewed her for their columns in publications such as “Fortune,” “The Miami Herald,” and “Meetings and Conventions Magazine.” She has been invited to speak to local student and professional groups on various topics related to business ethics. Dr. Sims serves as an editor for the Journal of Business Ethics. She has also served as an invited guest reviewer for a number of journals.
In linking her research interests to the classroom, Dr. Sims has authored a textbook entitled “Bivariate Data Analysis: A Practical Guide.” The goals of the book include helping the beginning researcher learn to make independent decisions to properly analyze and interpret social science data. Dr. Sims teaches courses in research methodology to both undergraduate and doctoral students in business and the social sciences. In addition, she serves on or chairs a number of D.B.A. dissertation committees.
