Dr. Thomas E. Griffin

Dr. Griffin is Professor of Decision Sciences at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, Nova Southeastern University.

Before joining NSU in 2007, he was professor at Indiana Wesleyan University where he held position as Academic Dean College of Adult and Professional Studies (APS)(2002 – 2005) and Professor of Organizational Leadership (2002 - 2007). As Dean he provided academic oversight for fifteen degree programs serving approximately 9500 students both on-ground, on-line, and at numerous sites in multiple states. Eighteen regional campuses reported to the Dean. He was responsible for systems creation and improvement of assessment, accreditation, operational functions for student services, on-line library services, and regional sites. Active on University Strategic Planning Committee, Supervisor of a Lilly “Brain Drain” one million dollar grant, actively working on other grant committees, university representative to several state-wide coordination councils, part of development team for doctoral program in Organizational Leadership (course developer of statistics, finance, and organizational behavior components), academic leader for successful INCATE visit, member of doctoral faculty, actively involved in community in Louisville, Cleveland, and Cincinnati, academic new program development leader, etc.
List of programs that Dean of APS had responsibility: 150 Electives (online and on-ground, Associates: Business, General Studies, Computer Information Systems,Baccalaureate: Accounting, Business, Business Information Systems, Management, Marketing, Nursing,Graduate Programs: Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Management, Master of Education,Post Master’s Degree Programs: Principal Licensure Program and Transition to Teaching.

He was also Vice President of Adult and Graduate Studies at Southern Wesleyan University (1998 -2002). He had total operational responsibility for statewide operations of adult learner associates, undergraduate, and graduate programs. Under his leadership, the university received approval from SACS to offer Graduate Masters Programs in Business, Management, and Education. Responsible for course module writing,faculty recruiting and development,student services, site operations in six geographic locations), as well as new site development, articulation agreements, financial, and budgeting. In addition, he was a former associate professor of management, coordinator of business studies, director of masters of management in the traditional program.Served on numerous committees such as: President’s Cabinet, Chair of Graduate Faculty, Graduate Management Admissions Committee, Spiritual Life Committee, etc.

Other manufacturing and miltary experience: President of Intro International Inc. (2002 - 2006). Asten, Inc.: Corporate Vice President of Quality Systems (1998 to 1998). Responsible for guiding systems implementation at all functional levels for the quality systems of corporate and plant level.
Asten Inc.: Clinton Operations, Clinton S.C. Vice President-Operations Manager (1994 to 1998). Responsible for all site activity of 240 exempt, non-exempt, and hourly associates in the manufacturing of paper machine clothing (press fabrics). Prior to 1994 Vice President of Manufacturing and from (1988-1989), Plant Manager. Key achievements included: Plant being named as a finalist in the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 1990, winner of the 21st Century Organizational Excellence Award in 1991, achievement of ISO 9001 (first company in U.S. to achieve both U.S. and International certification). Served as manufacturing team leader for the French operation and had significant international exposure with suppliers.
Wangner Systems Inc.: Greenville, S.C. (1986-1988). Director of Manufacturing for a four product line company with 340 manufacturing reports associated in the manufacture of paper machine clothing. (1981-1986) Production Manager for press fabric product line (plant start-up). (1980-1981) Department Superintendent. (1980) Finishing Supervisor (spent over one year in Germany).
American Enka Inc.: Central, S.C. (1971-1980). Production Supervisor. Manufacturing of polyester filament yarn. (1970-1971) training instructor.
U.S. Army: (1970-1971). Specialist Four - Military Police. Served in Turkey assigned to the U.S. Army Security Agency.

Other academic experiences:
North Greenville College: (2006 to 2006) Adjunct professor. Responsible for teaching two courses undergraduate business policy and two operations management courses.
Southern Wesleyan University: Central S.C. (1996 to 2002). Undergraduate teaching experience in the following courses: finance, accounting, economics, principles of management, production and operations management,strategy, marketing, total quality management, research, statistics, etc. Graduate teaching experience in finance, management of information systems, total quality management, international business, organizational development, strategy, and organizational behavior.
Brenau University: Gainesville Ga., (1999 to 2001). Adjunct professor; Undergraduate and graduate teaching experience in international business, operations management, and finance.
Webster University: (1998 to 2001). Adjunct professor; Teaching experience in graduate level statistics,production and operations management, and strategy.
University of South Carolina: (1996 and 1997). Lecturer in Total Quality Management class in the International Business Master’s program.
Presbyterian College: (1997). Adjunct professor; taught undergraduate Principles of Management.
Lander University: Greenwood, SC, (1999). Adjunct professor; taught undergraduate finance.
Furman University: (2002). Adjunct professor; taught undergraduate production and operations management and statistics.
Saint Francis University:(2003). Adjunct professor; taught graduate course in Health Services Research.
Nova University: (2000 to 2007 Adjunct professor; taught graduate courses in operations management, leadership, and doctoral courses in management information systems and statistics.
Indiana Wesleyan University: Professor; taught the following graduate classes: statistics, bio statistics, Total Quality of the Enterprise, finance, integrated capstone course (strategy), cost accounting and marketing. Also taught organizational theory and behavior, statistical theory, organizational governance and financial planning in the Doctor of Organizational Leadership program.
