David Freund retired in 2021 from Deere & Company (a Fortune 100 company with $52B of revenue and 82,000 employees worldwide) after 42 years of service. His career began as an auditor moving initially to international consolidations and finally for the last 37 years to the tax department where he served in several roles but for the last 25 years was either the Director of Federal Tax (1997-2009) or Director of International Tax ( 2009-2021). In these roles his teams had primary responsibility for tax compliance, tax planning, tax accounting, and the federal tax audit. He led the tax teams on over 200 business acquisitions/divestitures worldwide and had primary responsibility for tax’s relationship with corporate business development.

David enjoys teaching, coaching, and training his staff on the technical aspects of the tax law, career development, and audit strategy. Outside of work he continued his desire to teach by teaching at four different academic institutions (1) Mt. St Claire College (undergraduate financial and managerial accounting plus intro to marketing) (2) St Ambrose University (graduate level tax course in their Master of Accounting program, intermediate accounting, and intro to financial accounting). (3) Carl Sandburg junior college (Intro to business, Financial and managerial accounting) and now finally at Nova Southeastern University where he teaches introductory financial accounting.

David graduated from Bradley University in Peoria Illinois with a B.S. in Accounting and from the University of Iowa with an MBA. He holds a CPA certificate from Iowa.
