International Field Seminar
|
The Master of International Business Administration gives students the option to travel on the International Field Seminar to emerging markets, such as China, India, South Africa, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, Chile, Cuba, Czech Republic, Brazil, Russia, and Dubai UAE.
The IFS project was initiated and each IFS has been organized by Dr. Clarke, starting in 1998. Dr. Clarke develops each unique experience using a combination of cold calling (emailing) to new contacts and by building on her existing global networks. Each IFS is put together in conjunction with its host university, so that each IFS is different but all are the experience of a lifetime. The students participating bring the IFS to life each time and Dr. Clarke is often asked by her students which is the best IFS... and the answer is always "each and every one of them!."

Depending on where we go, the schedule is uniquely developed for that country, so may include getting to know students from the destination country, visiting historic sites, seeing how people really live or just enjoying the food!
The full academic description of the IFS is located on the syllabus posted on the Links tab. Click on the Photos tab for different destinations, or select Destinations to see where we have already been and Guidelines for future destinations and general information.

"The Dubai IFS, September 2008, was a phenomenal International field seminar for my MIBA group. I was extremely pleased with the excellent daily events, the service, the field trips and the organisations we visited. We gathered insights into trade, government, politics, marketing and business management, the economic outlook and strategic management. At the same time as acquiring extensive knowledge, we increased our understanding and learning about the culture, and meeting and greeting Emirati citizens was a unique experience.
Dubai has magnificent opportunities for International business managers and talents are much needed in this country and this region of the world. Dubai will certainly be on many of our radars as we complete our Master’s degree in international business administration."
